One thing we didn't mention! - minor surgery

I have just been browsing through Joey's photos of the trip, getting ready to produce a photobook of the whole adventure, when I came across a picture of the day we performed minor surgery on Fran's hand.

It was in St Moritz, well, nearby, as we'd taken the Bernina Express back to a cable car and went to the top of yet another mountain.  On the way back we decided to walk a bit instead of jumping straight on the train.  Of course, we found a hotel/bar......of course we stopped and ordered a few in our best Swerman (German come Swiss).  Fran somehow managed to get a very large splinter embedded in her hand.  Let me point out, Fran is probably THE most squeemish person on the planet, and the thought of having her hand carved open to retrieve said splinter was the END of her world!  Why did we have to resort to the knife?  Because it was there?  No, because we had tried everything else, managed to break the splinter and left the largest part in her hand.  So, armed with anitbacterial gel/handwash and a 'clean' swiss army knife blade, we set to and opened her up!  Richard played the toughy and held her down while Jo and mysel;f enjoyed every moment.  Tee Hee.  Still, we managed to retrieve it and poor Fran didn't lose much blood or fingers....in fact....hardly any...what good surgeons we are!  She lives to tell the tale.
